FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What class do you recommend for a beginner?

No experience is required to take a class. Many of our students have no aerial, dance, or fitness background. For beginners, we recommend starting with our Intro to Aerial Foundations course or jumping right into any of our Level 1 classes!

What class do you recommend for someone with experience?

Check out our Levels page and see where you would fit best! This is where you can find our exit criteria for each level.

What should I bring to class?

  • We recommend wearing fitted athletic wear (such as leggings and socks) that cover the waist, inner thighs, and back of knees for your comfort.

  • Hair tie (to avoid catching on apparatuses or difficulty seeing.)

  • Avoid loose clothing which can get caught in an apparatus.

  • Avoid jewelry, zippers, and sequins since these can get tangled or cause tearing in aerial fabrics.

  • A water bottle! It is super important to stay hydrated. We offer a water fountain and water bottle refiller at our studio for your convenience.

Are aerial circus arts safe?

Aerial circus arts are a high-impact, dangerous sport. That is why, at Aerial Dragons Studios, safe is the new sexy. Our staff and instructors take as many precautions as possible to make sure our students are safe at all times. All apparatuses and systems undergo frequent inspections to ensure safety. All instructors are highly experienced and trained as experts in aerial safety. During class, our instructors are always there to spot, support, and supervise students.

All new tricks are first learned at ground level and practiced many times before taking on new heights. Students learn how to get into a trick, walk it down if it is a drop, and other options for exiting a trick. Additionally, all students are protected with a crash mat under every apparatus in use. Our student’s safety and comfort are always our top priority!

If I’m not strong or flexible, can I take a class?

Of course! Fun fact: Aerial arts use several muscles that aren’t used in typical workouts. So, everyone has to gain strength and flexibility when they try their hands at aerial arts — even fitness junkies!

You develop strength and flexibility by creating beautiful figures in the air and pushing your limits. During each class, we work on strength and endurance-building drills that allow you to hold yourself in the air a bit longer each time. So, come to class and you may surprise yourself!

What are the benefits of aerial arts?

Oh my. Where do we begin!? Aerial arts are an excellent hobby for physical and mental health.
